ATLANTA, GA (May 27, 2022) — Atlanta trial lawyer Geoff Pope, co-founder of personal injury law firm Pope & Howard, P.C. and President of the Georgia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), is pleased to announce that the Georgia Chapter was recently named Chapter of the Year.
ABOTA is an invitation-only society that unites local lawyers and judges to help promote a fair judiciary process. National ABOTA presents two Chapter of the Year Awards each year. These awards are given for outstanding contribution to ABOTA. One award is given to a Chapter that has 100 or more members (Large Chapter of the Year) while the other award is given to a Chapter with 99 or less members (Small Chapter of the Year). The Georgia Chapter received the Small Chapter of the Year Award at a black-tie event held in Chicago earlier this month.
“It’s wonderful to be recognized for our contributions and hard work,” Pope said. “The Georgia Chapter, like all of ABOTA, is dedicated to strengthening the Constitutional right to a trial by jury, and we will continue to uphold its mission going forward.”
Pope joined ABOTA in 2013 and throughout his career has made it a priority to help uphold and improve the jury trial system. As President, he is dedicated to ABOTA’s missing of uniting judges and experienced plaintiff and defense attorneys to allow them to better communicate on ways to improve the jury trial system.
“Continuing education is so important, as is getting judges and lawyers in the same room to talk about these issues,” Pope added.
Pope is also heavily involved in ABOTA’s Civility Matters program, an initiative dedicated to elevating the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.
Pope has been a member of the Georgia Bar since 1993. Born and raised in Americus, Georgia, Pope met fellow attorney Marc Howard at the University of Georgia Law School, and the two joined together to form Pope & Howard, P.C. in Atlanta in 2005.
