Vermont Construction Worker Killed
Recently New York officials reported the death of a construction worker from Vermont, who died from accidental injuries. The accident occurred on a construction site in northern New York.
The worker was injured while operating an auger, or large drilling device, as he worked to install a pipe with a 3-foot-diameter. Unfortunately, while operating the drill, the construction worker was thrown to the ground and pinned there by the auger. Although rescue attempts were made by others on the site, the injured worker was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital.
Due to heavy machinery and the nature of demanding physical labor involved in construction, the rate of injury in the construction work force is amongst the highest in all industries.
