Motorist Killed By Runaway Tire on I-85
Last Friday, a motorist was killed when a tire fell off a pickup truck and crashed through the windshield of an oncoming minivan, the AJC reports. The incident took place on I-85, north of Clairmont Road before 8:30 a.m.
Dekalb police said that a Dodge pickup truck was driving northbound when one of the truck’s tired fell off and flew over the median wall. The tire struck the minivan and killed the driver, a 47-year old woman who was in the southbound lane. The minivan driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene while a 16-year-old passenger was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for evaluation.
