DUI Charge in Crash that Killed Gwinnett Teen

Brittany Sailors, a 16 year-old Gwinnett County resident, was killed Sunday night when she pulled out in front of another vehicle in a neighborhood near Grayson. She was attempting to make a left turn from Graystone Parkway onto Lakeview Road around 9:40 p.m., according to the Gwinnett County police press release.

When she was struck by another vehicle that was westbound on Lakeview Road, neither Sailors nor her passage, Lacey Gowens, also 16-years old, were wearing a seat belt. Sailors died at the scene. Gowens has been hospitalized due to injuries that police said are not life-threatening.

Police later changed the other driver, Mutajah Paasewe, 23, of Grayson, with driving under the influence, according to the AJC. Paasewe and his passenger, 19-year-old Dario Abreau of Norcross, were also taken to a local hospital for treatment.
