10-Year-Old Boy Struck in Pedestrian Accident
On Tuesday morning, a child was struck by a vehicle while walking to school. The 10-year-old DeKalb county student was trying to cross Panola Road on his way to Panola Way Elementary School when he was hit, the AJC reports.
Dekalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said that witnesses reported seeing the boy in a crosswalk when he stepped in front of an SUV. The driver stopped after the accident, but investigators haven’t determined whether or not the driver will be charged. The boy was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Panola Road was blocked most of the morning while police investigated the accident.
